Jennifer LawrenceNot much is known about Darren Aronofsky’s new movie — his first feature since 2014’s somewhat disappointing biblical epic “Noah” — but it must be good considering the serious talent he’s lining up behind the scenes. According to reports from both Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, Aronofsky’s latest is set to star Jennifer Lawrence in the lead role and will be distributed by Paramount Pictures. The Oscar-nominated director has a first-look deal at New Regency, but they allegedly passed on the project, allowing Paramount to take over the rights.

Rumors about Lawrence’s involvement with the movie have been circulating ever since Aronofsky decided to move on from a potential Channing Tatum-starring Evel Knievel biopic in order to pursue something else. Lawrence was reportedly the director’s first choice for the role. The actress just won her third Golden Globe award for her performance in “Joy.”

The drama, which his hoping to shoot in the spring for a potential 2017 release, involves a couple whose relationship is put to the test after guests arrive at their home and disrupt their lives. Sounds like Aronofsky could be taking some ideas from Michael Haneke’s “Funny Games” playbook.

Lawrence was previously in talks for the film and is now confirmed, while Variety’s sources also say Javier Bardem is excepted to join her as the co-lead. Aronofsky will be handling writing, directing and producing duties.
