Cellular South today announced the availability of the HTC Touch Diamond, a stylish and innovative advanced 3G smart phone that combines high-tech prowess with intuitive usability and exhilarating design.

Voted the European Smartphone of the Year for 2008-2009, the HTC Touch Diamond is available in all Cellular South retail locations and online at www.cellularsouth.com. Cellular South is offering the device for $199.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate. The discounted price requires a two-year voice contract and a one-year data agreement.

The cell features a sharp 2.8-inch touch screen with four times the resolution of most phones, 3G high-speed broadband data capability on Cellular South’s nationwide network of networks, a TouchFlo touch-screen interface designed to be used with just one finger and the Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional platform for enterprise-class communications and integration needs.

Features

  • 4 GB of internal storage
  • 192 MB of RAM
  • An integrated GPS receiver for use with map software and full turn-by-turn satellite navigation
  • 3.2 megapixel digital camera with auto-focus
  • Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
  • 802.11g wi-fi wireless connectivity
  • A combined USB and audio jack
  • A VGA-resolution video camera for video conferencing applications
  • An integrated FM radio receiver
  • A rechargeable lithium-ion battery

The HTC Touch Diamond sports a solid brushed metal, matte finish frame and aims to improve the mobile web browsing experience by using a customized Opera Mobile 9.5 browser that enables users to zoom and pan across web pages with one finger as well as view pages optimized to fit the display.

Cellular South customers also will be able to take advantage of a new Windows mobile web homepage designed exclusively for the HTC Touch Diamond with touch screen-activated tiles that offer one-button access to sports, news, weather, entertainment and travel, games, e-mail and social networking sites and other valuable content.

“The HTC Diamond is just the right size,” Richmond said. “It’s small enough to operate with one hand and one touch, but big enough for customers to enjoy vibrant and crisp images and text on its large display.”

Richmond said the device also should appeal to enterprise users who want the productivity offered by the integration of Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional with mobile versions of Microsoft Office’s productivity suite of Internet Explorer, Windows Media player and Mobile Outlook, which can link to Microsoft Exchange servers for e-mail, calendars, contact information, to-do lists and more.
