Canon has unveiled a duo of upgraded Rebel DSLR cameras aimed at first-time DSLR owners. The EOS Rebel T3i and EOS Rebel T3 are focusing more on newcomers to DSLRs.

The T3i stands due to a swiveling LCD, rarity in its class, and a three-inch display borrowed from the EOS 60D.

The higher-end of the two, the EOS Rebel T3i is equipped with Canon’s newest DIGIC 4 image processor and an 18-megapixel CMOS image sensor. When shipped as a combo, with lens, users can look forward to an EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 II lens with zoom. It is also available with body only if the lens is not needed, or is not what users are looking for. Further, the camera offers 1080p video recording and wireless flash support.

The EOS Rebel T3 comes standard with the same lens as the more expensive T3i and DIGIC 4 image processor, but offers a still excellent 12.2-megapixel CMOS image sensor. This is good enough in order to deliver 720p video recording. It’s fixed view screen is 2.7-inches and it also comes with a useful in-camera feature guide for newbies to quickly get the most of their new purchase.

Both cameras come with Canon’s 63-zone, dual-metering system for accurate metering between exposures and are compatible with SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards.

The Canon EOS Rebel T3i will ship in March for $799.99 (body only) or $899.99when bundled with its lens. The Canon EOS Rebel T3 will ship towards the end of March for $599.99 with lens.
