Boxee today announced ship dates for the Boxee Box. The media hub will ship November 10 for those who’ve pre-ordered through either Amazon in the US or Best Buy and Future Shop in Canada. A much wider range of online and retail shops should get the Boxee Box on November 17.
The cube is a direct competitor to Apple TV and Roku. Boxxee can view both Flash and H L5 video from sources such as MLB and YouTube as well as College Humor and Revision3. It also has access to radio streaming and photo services plus social networking through Facebook and Twitter. The remote has a simple touchpad on the front with a QWERTY keyboard on the flip side.
Whille AppleTV can only do 720P video, Boxee switched from a NVIDIA ARM CPU to an Atom chip to get 1080P video support while also supporting expansion through its two USB ports.
While the official price is $229, the street price is $199 at Amazon and some other stores.
