BiTMICROLogo400300_r_200x150BiTMICRO has announced the new MAXio E-Series PCIe solid state drives (SSDs). Prior to this announcement, BiTMICRO targeted the industrial and military markets but with the E-Series (E for Enterprise) SSDs, they are now going after the growing enterprise storage market.

BiTMICRO’s Talino ASIC technology allows scaling of capacity and throughput. A single Talino controller is capable of 400,000 random IOPS at 4KB and can perform up to 4,096 concurrent flash operations and connect to as many as 480 flash chips. BitMICRO’s Talino ASIC technology is available under license, as in the case with Runcore, who use the architecture in their own SSD storage devices. Read: Building a Business Case for Flash Storage

The high speed, high capacity SSD storage can serve the needs of multimedia applications, traditional online transaction processing applications as well as web apps, file servers and cloud services. The MAXio E-Series SSD devices are available in 1.5TB to 6 TB capacities as a PCIe full height, half length form factor. BiTMICRO performance specs for the MAXio show 4KB read/write IOPS at 240k/100k and 4KB read/write at less than 50/30 microseconds.

The Dynamic Wear Leveling feature will allow the MAXio E-Series SSD’s flash memory chips to last up to five years, according to BiTMICRO. Dynamic Wear leveling carefully manages the read/write cycles to the flash memory of the device to allow maximum life of the memory chips. The included DriveLight management software gives users the ability to tune the drive settings for optimal performance.
