Science Channel has ordered eight half-hour episodes of SciJinks prank series from The Big Bang Theory star Johnny Galecki, for premiere in 4th quarter 2017. Galecki, via his Alcide Bava Productions, will appear in and executive produce the series, which uses cutting-edge science as the foundation for outrageous stunts and practical jokes.

Galecki will orchestrate a team of brilliant and inventive scientists drawing from chemistry, physics, technology, engineering and more, with never-before-seen pranks designed to introduce audiences to remarkable and unusual scientific discoveries. Along with Galecki, each episode will be guided by scientists, physicists and stem students.

“One of the most rewarding elements of being on The Big Bang Theory has been being approached by younger people who claim they never before had considered a life in the sciences until watching the show. Our goal on ‘Big Bang‘ is to make people laugh. These kids are molding our culture, building our future and even curing diseases. SciJinks is a way to celebrate them and hopefully inspire more young people to follow in their footsteps — while having an absurdly good and mischievous time,” said Galecki.

“Johnny’s humor and talent have charmed millions of fans for years, myself included,” added Marc Etkind, General Manager of Science Channel. “We are so glad to reward his loyal fans with this fun and fascinating series that features mind-blowing science.”

Galecki has received an Emmy and Golden Globe nomination, among other honors for his role as awkward physicist Leonard Hofstadter on CBS’ flagship series The Big Bang Theory. The show, currently in its tenth season, was recently renewed for Seasons 11 and 12. Galecki and Alcide Bava also have multi-camera comedy pilot Living Biblically currently in production at CBS. Galecki is an executive producer with writer Patrick Walsh, Spencer Medof and Alcide Bava VP Andrew Haas.
