ECOtality has announced it will install its Blink EV charging stations for electric vehicles at 12 Best Buy stores in the US by March. This is a pilot project to see whether more charging stations should be installed. The initial chargers will be installed at locations in Tucson, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Diego and Seattle.

The chargers are meant mainly for upcoming vehicles that use batteries such as the Chevy Volt and Nissan Leaf.

Each Blink charging station uses 240 volts for quicker charger times and sports a touchscreen display. Ecotality estimates total charge times to fall at between two and six hours. It will connect to the Internet and provide charge status and driving history.

Best Buy also said it will begin selling electric bicycles, scooters and a motorcycle at its stores.
