Ballistic has updated its toughest iPhone 4 case, the Ballistic HC, to be compatible with Verizon iPhones, the company announced today. Featuring four layers of protection looking out for everything from the phone’s finish to the trauma of a severe drop, plus an additional fifth element of a durable screen protector, the Ballistic HC — like its AT&T-compatible sibling — is aimed at markets where the iPhone is clearly going to get exposed to a lot of abuse.
The HC features an interchangeable outer gel skin layer — currently only available in black, but other colors will be available — a front-facing inward holster and rigid screen protector. The design also uses connector seals to keep out dust and dirt when ports are not actively in use.
The interior of the case features an inner rubber layer for both maintaining the phone’s finish as well as helping protect against shock or drops, followed by a rigid structural frame, then another layer of shock-absorbing rubber, then the removeable silicon layer with connector plugs, and finally the screen protector.
The case costs $49.99 and is available now direct from Ballistic or at various retailers throughout the US.
