AT&T is putting a new sound system and dock for iPhones and iPods through its paces at the FCC. The ID251 SoundStream, the carrier’s first self-branded iOS dock, would carry dual six-ohm, two-inch speakers with RealBass processing to handle deeper frequencies. These are driven by independent five-watt amplifiers.
Based on the look, iPhones and iPods docked in the SoundStream can play music and be charged simultaneously. A remote controller provides management of volume, tracks and other iPod functions. The system should come with five docking adapters to support most generations of iPhones and iPods. The SoundStream will also play music via Bluetooth from iPods, iPhones, smartphones, notebooks, and tablets that support A2DP.
To match its signature color, AT&T will finish off the design with blue ambient lighting. No official pricing or ship dates exist for the SoundStream.
