The HTC Status, formerly known as the ChaCha, is now available for pre-order through AT&T. The so-called Facebook phone sports a dedicated Facebook button and a full QWERTY keyboard for updating the social networking site. The handset is priced at $50 on a two-year voice and data contract and arrives on July 17.
The phone centers on a squat 2.6-inch display with a 480×320 resolution. Best Buy will offer an exclusive color for the Status as well when it arrives, likely black or violet, though no details of this are yet known. The same handset is known as the ChaCha in European markets.
The phone will ship with Android 2.3 with a custom HTC Sense overlay and gets a five-megapixel camera. Canadian provider Telus hasn’t yet announced when it will ship the device but has its version releasing soon.
