AT&T has just outed the free AT&T DriveMode app for BlackBerry and Android smartphones. Part of the carrier’s It Can Wait campaign, the app will send out an automatic reply to incoming text messages telling the senders that the user is driving and can’t respond. Calls are also sent directly to voicemail. It needs to be activated by the user when they get behind the wheel to operate, however.
The app can craft auto-replies to incoming e-mails. As soon as users turn the app off, all missed texts, calls and e-mails will show up in a centrail. Up to five contact numbers can be added to an Allow List, with calls from them going through in case of an emergency. Users can enable one navigation app and one music app to run when AT&T DriveMode is turned on.
AT&T said it’s working on bringing the app to other smartphone platforms in the coming months.
