Acer’s first dual-core netbook, the Aspire One D255, is now shipping in the US. It lacks the dual-boot Android/Windows operating system of the recently introduced Taiwanese version and comes preloaded with Windows 7 Starter Edition on its 250GB drive.   In an upgrade over the Taiwanese version,  it uses the newer 1.5GHz N550 versus the 1.66GHz but single-core N455.

The 10.1-inch netbook still has 1GB of DDR3 RAM and a six-cell battery that which Acer rates at eight hours of life. The 10.1-inch screen’s resolution is 1024×600, and the system weighs in at 2.8 pound which is fairly standard for today’s netbooks.

The netbook can be had in black, brown, red or blue and it priced at $400
