Djay for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch received a significant update yesterday, adding professional audio effects, iCloud compatibility, enhanced music libraries, an audio cut-and-paste feature and iTunes sorting along with enhanced Airplay integration and iOS 5 compatibility. The app, which comes in three versions — for iPhone/iPod Touch, a special David Guetta edition, and an exclusive iPad edition — now makes a viable replacement for some DJing hardware setups.

The pro effects are all real-time with both basic and advanced panes for different mixing styles, and include Bit Crusher, Echo, High and Low Pass filtering, Flanger, Gate and Phaser. The included iCloud integration means that a user’s per-song settings created on one device are instantly available on other iOS 5 installs of the software.

The audio copy-and-paste feature means users can load sounds created in other music apps, and users can now sort their iTunes library by BPM to making finding similar-tempo songs much easier. Djay now also transmits metadata about the current track, such as artist and album, when transmitting a track via AirPlay. The metadata can also be seen even in the iOS device is locked.

New users can purchase the new version from the App Store. The regular iPhone version is $1, the David Guetta version (which includes a signature drum pad and extra tracks by the DJ/producer) is $8, and the iPad-only version is $20.
