Adobe today updated Lightroom to v3.3, correcting numerous bugs but mainly adding support for lens profiles created by the user community. A companion application, Lens Profile Downloader v1, offers 300 lens correction profiles and the ability to create and share new ones. The company also updated its Camera Raw plug-in to v6.3 with support for 15 new models and 60 new lenses.

Newly-supported camera models include Canon Powershots G12 and S95; Nikon’s D3100, D7000 and Coolpix P7000; the Olympus E-5; the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF2 and GH2; the Pentax K-5 and K-r; Ricoh’s GXR and GR lens A12 (28mm F2.5); the Samsung NX100 and TL350, and Sony’s A560 and A580 models.

Issues that were addressed in the Lightroom update include a fix for not all images being imported from an iPhone 4, auto-ISO values not being correctly handled from Nikon D3 cameras, a stability issue when numerous cloning or healing spots were used, and issues with Lightroom’s interaction with SmugMug and Facebook albums among others. In addition, JPEG exports and the Target Adjustment Tool’s performance were improved from the release-candidate version.

Lens Profile Downloader works with Lightroom, Camera Raw and Photoshop CS5 to import and manage lens correction profiles, and in this first official release a few of the profiles were updated from the release-candidate version. A full list of the new lenses supported can be seen here. Both Lens Profile Downloader and the updates for Lightroom and Camera Raw are free
