Actor Dennis Farina Dead at Age 69

Dennis FarinaFilm and television star Dennis Farina has passed away at the age of 69, his representative has confirmed today.

Farina, who was born on Feb. 29, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois and served as a real-life police officer for 18 years before becoming an actor at the age of 37, died in a Scottsdale, Ariz. hospital Monday (July 22, 2013) morning after suffering from a blood clot in his lung.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of a great actor and a wonderful man,” his publicist Lori De Waal pronounced in a statement. “Dennis Farina was always warm-hearted and professional, with a great sense of humor and passion for his profession. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.”

Dennis Farina was perhaps best known for his work in the mobster films “Midnight Run,” “Get Shorty,” and “Snatch,” but his career also spanned the small screen as well with a detective role on “Law & Order” and a member of the horse-racing business for HBO’s “Luck.” He also appeared on the popular comedy “New Girl
