Acer has introduced two new 3D-capable monitors. The 23.6-inch HS244HQ and the 27-inch HN274H and require active shutter glasses to see 3D images. The larger of the two will be the first to support both NVIDIA’s 3D system and 3D over HDMI to give users a choice of how they see the extra depth.
An IR emitter sends out the signals to the NVIDIA active shutter glasses. Otherwise, specs include a 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio.
The smaller screen gets three HDMI inputs, a 12,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, and a 2ms response time. Instead of NVIDIA 3D Vision glasses, it uses Acer’s own brand. An IR emitter is also built-in to handle the link between the eyewear and the display.
The HN274H is priced at $689, while the HS244HQ 23.6-inch model costs $449
