Matthew Fox has joined the cast of Peter Webber’s Emperor, Variety reports. He’ll play the role of General Bonner Fellers, who served under Douglas MacArthur in Operation Blacklist at the conclusion of WWII.
Webber’s film is said to detail the days following Japan’s surrender whereby MacArthur, effectively in command of the nation, sought to have Emperor Hirohito and his family exonerated rather than be charged as war criminals. The story will likely be told with the character of Fellers as the lead.
Fox, best known for his role on “LOST,” will soon appear on the big screen in both I, Alex Cross and World War Z.
Written by David Klass and Vera Blasi, Emperor will begin filming shortly in both New Zealand and Japan.
