Apple today has released two new Macbook Air Models, an 11 inch and a 13 inch. Both models are unibody and feature a multi-touch trackpad. The big kicker is that
both use SSD drives (Flash storage) for instant-on use. Both also have 802.11n Wi-Fi wireless (802.11a/b/g compatible) and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR (Enhanced Data Rate).
11 Inch Model
The 11 inch models is 2.3 pounds with 1366×768 16:9 aspect ratio display. The body height ranges from 0.11 to 0.68 of an inch.
1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 3MB on-chip shared L2 cache or the optional 1.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 3MB shared L2 cache power the machine. The front side bus is 800 MHz. Hard drive storage is either 64GB or 128GB SSD (Flash) drive.
NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics processor with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory handles the display work.
Apple claims 5 hours of wireless use, 30 days of standby on single charge.
13 inch model
The 13 inch model is 0.68 inches thin at its thickest point and tapers down to 0.11 inches. It weighs in at 2.9 pounds. Unibody; full-size keyboard and trackpad. 13.3-inch display has a resolution of 1440×900.
1.86GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 6MB on-chip shared L2 cache or the optional 2.13GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 6MB shared L2 cache powers the machine. The front side bus is 1066MHz. 2GB of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM onboard (4GB maximum). Hard drive storage is either 128GB or 256GB SSD (Flash) drive.
