Vudu is launching an new campaign to gain a larger share of the movie rental space by slashing prices. Vudu’s Movies On Sale section is now priced at just $2 for about 4,000 films with 48 hours to finish watching them after playback starts. The deal lasts until the end of the year.
Lower prices should apply to Vudu Box owners as well as the TVs and Blu-ray players that have streaming support, such as those from LG, Samsung and Vizio.
Vudu’s pricing is well under the per-title rental prices of competitors like Amazon and Apple, who change $4 or more for a recent standard definition rental.
