Bigpoint has announced that it will begin adding about 80 new employees to its San Francisco office. Bigpoint intends to hire a range of experienced professionals, including, game designers, 3D artists, and developers with knowledge of Flash, C++, C#, Unity, and PHP. These additional employees will be assigned to a number of new projects that are scheduled to begin development within the coming months.

“Coming to San Francisco has helped us quickly enter and begin competing in the North American online gaming market,” said Heiko Hubertz, CEO and Founder, Bigpoint. “After only six months of operation here, we’re ready to get started on a number of new projects that we’ll announce soon.”

Unlike retail-oriented game companies, who typically reduce staff following the completion of major titles, Bigpoint’s browser-based games live and thrive online for many years post launch, requiring constant optimization and new content. For example, Seafight and Dark Orbit, which officially launched in 2006 and 2007 respectively, are among Bigpoint’s most successful titles of all time. Like most Bigpoint Games, both are available in 25 languages and monetize in over 150 countries worldwide.

Bigpoint is quickly updating its 60+ game portfolio to include new titles that redefine the level of quality of games played through standard web browsers. Games such as Poisonville, ToonRacer, Battlestar Galactica Online, The Mummy – and the soon to be unveiled game under development in San Francisco – are designed to provide a high-quality gaming experience without the need for game consoles or high-end gaming PCs.

In addition to Bigpoint’s hiring plans in San Francisco, the company will add 200+ to its other locations worldwide. Candidates who would like to review Bigpoint’s open positions are encouraged to visit the company’s career site: http://www.bigpoint.net/ and click the “Careers” tab. Candidates can also meet representatives from Bigpoint next month at GDC Online, Oct. 5-8 in Austin, Texas on the Expo floor.
