Yesterday, September 13 marked ten years since Apple introduced the first Mac OS X beta to the general public. The OS helped a turn around at Apple, which had faced troubling times in the ’90s.
OS X got its start at Apple, when Apple purchased NeXT which bought Steve Jobs back into the Apple Fold. OS X is based upon OPENSTEP (NeXTSTEP), which was NeXT’s primary product.
After the public beta period, Apple official releaseD OS X v10.0, AKA Cheetah, early in 2001. The OS has continued through several major updates, which has lead to today’s version OSX v10.6, AKA Snow Leopard.
