New Line has premiered the official trailer for the James Wan-produced The Curse of La Llorona based on the Mexican folklore tale of the same name.
Said legend is about a mother who drowned her two young sons in a fit of rage over her adulterous husband and is cursed to roam the Earth looking for other children to snatch away and call her own.
Michael Chaves helms the film which sets the action in 1970s Los Angeles where a social worker and her own small kids are soon drawn into a frightening supernatural realm. Their only hope to survive La Llorona’s deadly wrath may be a disillusioned priest and the mysticism he practices to keep evil at bay.
Linda Cardellini, Raymond Cruz, Patricia Velasquez, Marisol Ramirez, Sean Patrick Thomas, Jaynee-Lynne Kinchen, and Roman Christou star in the film which opens April 19th.
