As it stands, Apple’s CarPlay doesn’t currently support Pandora, according to an official statement. When CarPlay was announced on Monday, Apple initially highlighted just Spotify, Beats Radio, Stitcher, iHeartRadio, and its own Podcasts and iTunes Radio as compatible music/podcast-themed apps. “At this time, Pandora is not integrated with Apple CarPlay,” the Pandora statement reads. “As a first mover in the auto space, we continue to broaden our relationships with OEMs while also exploring other opportunities to expand our presence in the car. Apple has been and continues to be a valued partner.”
Pandora is a conspicuous omission from CarPlay, given its status as one of the most popular music streaming services and something regularly integrated into car audio. The absence could be an anti-competitive stance on Apple’s part, since Pandora is iTunes Radio’s main rival.
