AOL has issued a major update of the MapQuestiOS app, v4.0. The app handles both general map searches and turn-by-turn navigation. Version 4.0 has been redesigned to fit the flat and clean look of iOS 7; accompanying this is a new look for the maps themselves, which should be easier to read. Search, meanwhile, has been improved to make finding destinations faster, and users can specify home and work bookmarks for quicker navigation.

Traffic data is another area of focus. The app will now identify traffic conditions while en route, turning routes red or yellow if congestion becomes a problem. New road alerts cover problems like toll roads and seasonal closures.

Minor additions include the ability to share current location with friends and family, and a mute function that suppresses voice directions while listening to music or making a phone call. The updated app now requires and iPhone with iOS 7.
