New Zealand actor Yoson An will play the title character’s love interest Chen Honghui in Disney’s live-action Mulan film.
Liu Yifei is playing the titular heroine Hua Mulan, who disguises herself as a man in order to spare her elderly father from having to join the military.
Yoson An’s Chen Honghui is a confident and ambitious recruit who joins Commander Tung’s unit. He becomes Mulan’s most important ally and eventual love interest.
Chum Ehelepola, Jet Li, Gong Li and Donnie Yen also star in the Niki Caro-directed film which begins filming in August.
