“Gringo” revolves around an American cop who moves south of the border with his Mexican wife and gets caught up in the cartel wars. Fox has given the project a script order.
Goggins and Fierro, an alum of “The Shield” and “The Walking Dead,” co-wrote the story, with Fierro penning the teleplay. The pair will serve as executive producers. Goggins’ manager, Darris Hatch, is on board as co-executive producer. It’s uncertain whether Goggins is eying “Gringo” as a starring vehicle.
At present Goggins co-stars with Timothy Olyphant on the FX/Sony Pictures TV drama “Justified,” where he has impressed in the role of rural crime kingpin Boyd Crowder. Like Fierro, Goggins logged several seasons on FX’s “The Shield” prior to “Justified.” His recent film work has included supporting roles in “Django Unchained,” “Lincoln” and “Cowboys and Indians.”
Fierro’s past credits include Showtime’s “Dexter,” TNT’s “Hawthorne” and Fox’s “24.”
