Thermaltake Launches Their First All Copper Radiators – Pacific CL Series

Thermaltake launched its first copper radiators-  the Pacific CL series. These are heavy radiators coming in at 64mm of thickness in 360mm, 420mm, and 480mm sizes.

The traditional thought of custom watercooling says one should never let copper and aluminum parts mixed it up in a water loop. Do so, with good planning and knowledge, will result in corrosion of parts over time.

Now copper conducts heat better than aluminum, but it’s expensive to use copper for big parts such as radiators. Coop thief in old building or construction sites is a big business these day.

Until now, Thermaltake has produced only aluminum radiators, while all of its other custom watercooling bits, like water blocks, are made from copper. To get around the issue of corrosion, the company said that its aluminum radiators have a zinc coating, so they can be safely mixed with copper parts, providing that the correct coolant is used.

Now Thermaltake now offers a line of copper-based radiators for those f you that want to stay in the traditional loop design camp. The Pacific CL series is not onlu for those that don’t want mix metals – they pack a much greater cooling potential over the thinner RL-series radiators.

The new radiators are 64mm thick and pack three rows of water tubes. Connecting them are copper fins spaced to a density of 14 fins per inch)and soldered by a process called reflow soldering, which Thermaltake said improves conductivity. The CL series use brass end tanks and a convenient fill port on the bottom.

The 360mm ($99.99), 420mm ($114.00), and 480mm ($124.99) Thermaltake Pacific CL series are available now at Thermaltake’s website.
