TestFlight Service Closing on February 26th

TestFlightThe standalone version of TestFlight — located at TestFlightApp.com — will be shutting down on February 26th, according to an email sent to developers. Apple last year bought out Burstly, the creator of TestFlight, and began migrating the beta-testing service over to iTunes Connect and an iOS app. The company warns developers that apps won’t automatically leap from one platform to the other, and must be set up anew in iTunes Connect.

Prior to acquiring Burstly, Apple had no official means for developers to run public betas of iOS apps. The App Store was the only authorized distribution method, and is still intended strictly for finished software. People with TestFlight on their iPhones and iPads can be invited to participate in a beta, and have the option of downloading updated code at will as long as any significant changes have been reviewed by Apple.
