rashida-jonesTV viewers may be seeing a lot of “Angie Tribeca” come January. Time Warner’s TBS is set to hurl all of the police-procedural satire at once to viewers, who will be able to binge-watch their way through the  entire first season five times over before its actual launch date. After the 25-hour marathon showing of the first season is over, TBS will air ten more episodes  of the show, one per week, pairing each with one with an encore of one of the ten that have already aired.

The 25-hour marathon will start Sunday, January 17 at 9 p.m. and continue until Monday, January 18 at 10 p.m. – meaning intrepid viewers could conceivably watch the first season of “Angie Tribeca” five times consecutively. The binge-view will also be available on TBS.com, the Watch TBS mobile app and via TBS On Demand.  Latin American and German networks owned by Time Warner’s Turner unit, which operates TBS,  are expected to join the 25-hour marathon on Jan. 17, while Spanish, Nordic and Asian networks will premiere all first-season episodes at one time.

The additional ten episodes are scheduled to debut Mondays at 9:30 p.m., starting Jan. 25, and will subsequently be made available across on-demand venues. The encores will follow at 10 p.m.

Turner has in recent months experimented with new ways of distributing content to get its series in front of more viewers. Earlier this year, for example, it agreed to make a greater number of episodes of its shows available on-demand to Comcast subscribers, meaning they could watch a series from debut episode to current one, instead of only a limited handful, as has been the norm.

Other companies have also tested these waters. NBCUniversal made the entire first season of its moody 1960s crime drama “Aquarius” available all at once for a period of several weeks, just before the program was set for its linear debut on NBC. And the company’s USA cable network made the first episode of sci-fi drama “Mr. Robot” available video-on-demand in advance of its June debut.

“Angie Tribeca” is co-created and executive produced by Steve and Nancy Carrell, and stars Rashida Jones as the protagonist. who is a veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Really Heinous Crimes Unit. Guest stars slated to appear include Lisa Kudrow and Gary Cole, among others.
