Ascot Elite has released the first international teaser trailer for the sports bio-drama Borg/McEnroe, starring Shia LaBeouf (Fury), Sverrir Gudnason (Gentlemen) and Stellan Skarsgård (The Avengers).
Borg/McEnroe tells the story of one of tennis’s greatest rivalries. John McEnroe and Bjorn Borg had some epic matches against each other in the ’70s and ’80s. Borg would eventually take a hiatus from the sport and try to make a comeback, while McEnroe stayed consistently dominating the sport. What’s more fascinating is the actual relationship between them — there’s a mix of rivalry and friendship. It will also be interesting to see LaBeouf take on the McEnroe role since the tennis great is widely-known for his temper. Bjorn Borg is played by Swedish actor, Sverrir Gudnason
The Swedish film is directed by Janus Metz Pedersen (True Detective, Armadillo) from a screenplay by Ronnie Sandahl (Underdog). It is produced by Jon Nohrstedt (Easy Money) and Fredrik Wikström (A Man Called Love).
Borg/McEnroe doesn’t have a US release date yet, but is set to open in Norway, Sweden and the UK in September and Germany in October.
