Renee Zellweger is set to star as Judy Garland in Pathe and Calamity Films’ Judy, a new movie about the famed actress and singer as she gave her final concerts in London.
The story opens in London 1968 as a 47-year-old exhausted and fragile Garland arrives for a five-week run of sell-out concerts at the Talk of the Town nightclub. The film will recount her battles with management, and relationships with musicians and fans.
Tom Edge (The Crown) penned the script, Rupert Goold will direct and David Livingstone (Pride) will produce. Some of Garland’s best-known songs will be featured in the project. Filming begins next February in London.
