The online world of Final Fantasy XIV continues to grow, and Square Enix’s latest patch to the game, titled “The Gears of Change” adds even more content for veteran and new players alike.

For those making their way through the main story of the Heavensward expansion, the update features the next installation of the main quest. Players will see monumental changes in the land of Ishgard as the story nears its climax.

Once you’re finished with the new story content, you can participate in new events throughout the land. Level 60 players can travel to two new dungeons: the mysterious Antitower and a harder version of the Lost City of Amdapor. If you’re looking for a more difficult challenge, you can fight Sephirot, the Fiend in a new trial, or return to the city of Alexander and take on the Illuminati.

There are additional side quests that add to the game’s overall lore. You can meet the Nonmind, an exiled group of insect-like beings that are trying to separate from their leader called the Onemind. You can also meet up with Nashu at the Holy See of Ishgard as she attempts to look for the missing inspector, Hildebrand Helidor Maximilian Manderville.

A new training area is also available called Stone, Sky, Sea. You and your friends can traverse the training ground and encounter striking dummies that simulate the strength of some of the toughest enemies in the game. Two weeks after the release of patch 3.2, Square Enix will release a new player versus player area called The Feast. The main goal of The Feast is to obtain the most opponent medals. At the end of each match, the players with the highest medal counts win a prize.

If you’re a newcomer to Final Fantasy XIV, the update also includes some content to help in the first steps of your journey. The Hall of the Novice introduces concepts essential to participating in party, and the Novice Network chat channel ensures that all of your questions are answered by mentors in the game.

Other minor updates include new tomestones to unlock advanced gear, additional crafting recipes, more hairstyles and extra features to customize your home and airship. The story of Heavensward continues to build up excitement, and Square Enix’s latest update has more than enough content to keep fans busy until the next update.
