Nick OffermanThe Nine-Nine will be getting a visit from a member of the Parks and Rec gang when Nick Offerman, who played libertarian, ultra-man Ron Swanson for seven seasons of the Emmy-nominated NBC’s sitcom, guest stars in an upcoming episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine. And while many had suspected that Offerman might play one of the precinct’s new captains in Season 3, it turns out that his character on the FOX comedy will be much different than anyone was expecting.

Offerman will play Frederick, an ex-boyfriend of Capt. Raymond Holt (Andre Braugher). Not many specifics are known about Frederick or his past with Holt, but Offerman will be appear in the Nov. 22 episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, titled “Ava,” where Frederick “crosses paths again with Holt” on Thanksgiving Day, in a story that centers on “Sharon (Merrin Dungey), who is the wife of Terry (Terry Crews), giving birth to their third child.”

As most Brooklyn Nine-Nine fans know, the cop comedy was created by Parks and Rec creator Michael Schur and executive producer Dan Goor. Additionally, Brooklyn‘s Chelsea Peretti was a writer on Parks and Rec, while Andy Samberg guest starred in a episode. Other notable actors that have appeared on both series include Jenny Slate, Nick Kroll, Patton Oswalt, and Badley Whitford.

Offerman is currently recurring in the second season of FX’s Fargo, which premiered this past Monday. He follows a stacked list of Season 3 guest stars, including Bill Hader, Dean Winters, Archie Panjabi, and Mary Lynn Rajskub, who have all appeared in the first three episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s third season.
