Netflix Has Renewed American Vandal for Season Two

Netflix is ready to spoof the true crime genre a second time The streaming giant has renewed satire series American Vandal for a second season.

The eight-episode sophomore run will debut in 2018. Co-creators Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda, as well as showrunner Dan Lagana will all return for season two. The trio also exec produce with Joe Farrell for Funny or Die and Ari Lubet, Josh Lieberman and Michael Rotenberg for 3Arts. CBS TV Studios produces with Funny or Die, 3Arts and Woodhead Entertainment for Netflix.

The series debuted in September to strong reviews despite a largely unknown cast and little advance promotion. A send-up of true crime docuseries like The Jinx and Netflix’s own breakout Making a Murderer, the first season centered on the investigation into who drew dicks on 27 cars at a Southern California high school.

It’s not yet clear what the central mystery will be for season two, or if any castmembers will return.

American Vandal joins original Netflix comedies Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Grace and Frankie, Master of None, The Ranch, Love, Fuller House, Flaked, Lady Dynamite, Haters Back Off, One Day at a Time, Santa Clarita Diet, Dear White People, GLOW, Friends From College, Atypical, Disjointed and Spike Lee’s upcoming TV adaptation of She’s Gotta Have It.

Funny or Die’s other original series include IFC’s Brockmire, Sarah Silverman’s Hulu talk show I Love You, America, and The Chris Gethard Show on truTV. You can watch the season two announcement below.
