NBC was the broadcast-TV network more people turned to for Election Night coverage on Tuesday.
A total of 34.8 million total viewers tuned into the combined Big 4 from 8 to 11 pm ET, down six percent from what NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox amassed in 2012’s fast nationals.
Of that audience watching Republican contender Donald Trump’s path to victory over Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton unfold, NBC accounted for 12 million. ABC followed with 9.7 mil, while CBS and Fox did 8.8 mil and 4.3 mil, respectively. The Peacock also dominated in the demo, scoring a 4.4 rating to ABC’s 2.9.
Putting cable networks in the mix, coverage of the 2012 presidential election between President Barack Obama and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney drew a total of 66.8 million viewers, while 71 million tuned in in 2008.
