Mutant Mudds 3DS Deluxe Update Passes Another Hurdle in NA and EU

Several months ago word was that Mutant Mudds for the 3DS would be receiving a free ‘Deluxe’ upgrade, bringing the title in-line with Mutant Mudds Deluxe for Wii U by adding the latter’s 20 Ghost levels.

Originally the free Deluxe add-on was expected to reach 3DS users in Q1 2014, but the good news is that we won’t be waiting much longer as Renegade Kid has recently received word – following Nintendo of America’s ‘all clear’ last week – that the update has now passed Nintendo of Europe’s approval process.

Jools Watsham announced earlier on his Twitter account:

This will no doubt be especially welcome news to those living in Europe, where Mutant Mudds Deluxe never received a release on the Wii U eShop due to difficulties with age rating companies outside of North America.

In an interview with Jools Watsham at the end of 2013 from Nintendo Life, he explained the problems developers face bringing their games to PAL territories, though there are positive noises about improvements to the processes being on the way:

There are multiple age rating companies in Europe and Australia/New Zealand: PEGI, USK, and COB. Each company requires a substantial payment to review your game, an online questionnaire, and a DVD sent to them with gameplay footage for them to review.
