LaCie Fuel_image (with iPad)LaCie is back for the company’s first year after being aquired by Seagate. For those who may have been concerned, the new relationship hasn’t done anything to diminish LaCie’s commitment to being a leader in storage innovation. Even if you don’t get as thrilled by storage as we do, the line-up of products being announced for CES 2014 confirms it.

LaCie Fuel Expands iPad Storage to 1TB — Without Wire

One product LaCie demonstrated for us that we like is Fuel, its new go-anywhere wireless hard drive that adds 1TB of untethered external storage capacity to the Pad, iPhone, Mac, and other compatible mobile devices. You can store huge amounts of data with Fuel – up to 500 movies, 160,000 songs or 190,000 photos — and they can share them with up to five devices at a time.

It can serve as a wireless hotspot and will sink up with cloud services like Dropbox. LaCie has always been known for their synchronicity with Apple products and Fuel is no exception. The drive’s compatibility with AirPlay lets you easily stream movies onto the big screen via Apple TV or stream music to compatible speakers. The form factor is slightly rugged in appearance, and it is lightweight with easy to spot connections.

LaCie Little Big Disk FeatureSmoking Fast Portable Storage: LaCie Little Big Disk Thunderbolt 2

LaCie will also unveil the Little Big Disk Thunderbolt 2, the fastest portable storage solution on the market. One of the first storage solutions enabled by Thunderbolt 2, it delivers speeds up to ten times faster than any mobile USB 3.0 hard drive.

Designed by Neil Poulton the drive is ideal for videographers, providing the performance and capacity required for demanding workflow, and allowing streaming and editing of 4K or 3D video while in the field. The LaCie Little Big Disk Thunderbolt 2 will be available for purchase in the first quarter of 2014 through LaCie’s resellers and LaCie.com.

ChristofleHandcrafted, Silver-Plated LaCie Sphère: Storage Gets Extra Classy

If you are in the market for something truly unique, then beautiful LaCie Sphère – designed by Christofle and handcrafted and silvered in France, might be just the thing. The handcrafted hard drive derives its name from its silver-plated steel spherical case and would certainly be an interesting addition for an upscale home or office workstation. The LaCie Sphère will be available this quarter in a 1TB capacity through the LaCie Online Store, select concept stores, and Christofle retail stores. We thought this would be great as a gift item to commemorate weddings or anniversaries, the modern version of that big fancy photo album that used to grace everyone’s coffee table.
