ITC Finds in Favor of Nokia and ZTE in InterDigital Patent Case

ITC LogoA court today said Nokia and ZTE did not violate patents held by InterDigital, a patent licensing firm. InterDigital had filed a case against the two phone makers with the International Trade Commission.

The ITC said Nokia and ZTE were in the clear, and InterDigital appealed. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit upheld the ITC’s decision. Nokia and ZTE were cleared on the charges of violating four patents, while a fifth InterDigital patent was tossed.

Microsoft said it was pleased with the ruling and InterDigital said it was disappointed. InterDigital beat ZTE in a similar case last year, and is still awaiting a separate trial against Microsoft in Delaware.
