Intel has lunched the Intel SSD 545SSD.  This is the first solid-state drive to use 64-layer TLC 3D NAND chips. Since each chip can store more data than past chips, fewer are required to reach the standard SSD storage capacities. This should aid in lower SSD costs.

at first, Intel will offer a 512GB SSD 545 for $180.

These new SSD 545 drives from Intel should perform much better than other value SSDs in heaver use situations. Intel has the drive sporting sequential read speeds of up to 550MB/s and sequential writes of up to 500MB/s. with 4.5 watts average power draw.

Intel plans to ship 545 drives with capacities ranging from 128GB right up to 2TB aoon.
