Instagram today expanded the feature set of its mobile app with a new text-focused way to create posts.

The Type mode in stories let’s people post just text with no underlying photo or video. The tool supports changeable background colors and fonts, and allows users to highlight words or phrases. Like other content added to the stories section, typed posts within stories will disappear after 24 hours.

Type mode is available in the latest version of Instagram’s app for Android and iOS devices. The change coincides with new advertising behaviors. Instagram today also gave brands more options to cram advertisements into the app. Specifically, brands can now create multi-part stories that require multiple taps to skip past when scrolling through stories.

Users can expect to see the expanded advertising format appear in Instagram stories in the coming weeks.
