Google Voice Testing WiFi Calling On Android

Posted by at 12:51 pm on April 5, 2018

Google is soliciting help testing WiFi calling in Google Voice. The company is asking Google Voice users to sign up for and trial WiFi calling through their Voice account.

Google says WiFi calling will let people reduce roaming charges, keep in touch via WiFi when cellular isn’t an option, and make calls from most any device, not just phones. The beta supports WiFi calling on Android, and the web (Chrome to start, Firefox, Safari and Edge to follow). Support for iOS is on the way.

Those interested in testing WiFi calling through Google Voice will need to fill out a form and update to the latest mobile app. Google warns there are a handful of known issues, such as Bluetooth incompatibility, and no support for call recording or transferring features.

Google Voice customers can learn through the Google Voice forums.
