Google Bumps Up Android APK Limit to 100MB

Android MarshmallowGoogle has increased the APK file size limit from 50MB to 100MB, which means developers will be able to create bigger, more complete apps available in a single download.

Moving forward, users will only be warned when downloading apps that are larger than 100MB and still make use of Expansion Files (additional downloads not part of the main app install). Google says the improved 100MB APK limit eases restrictions on what can be installed via cellular networks, but large apps will still default to WiFi for over-the-air installs.

Google said developers still need to keep in mind that larger apps take longer to download and longer to install, and that not all devices / wireless networks provide a good experience for large apps.
