The Disney animated sequel Frozen II dominated the Thanksgiving weekend, generating an estimated $85.2 million at the domestic box office from Friday through Sunday, a low 34.6% drop from last weekend, along with a $123.7 million haul over the five-day holiday.
This now makes the domestic total of $287.5 million and a global total of $738.5 million, with the billion-dollar mark expected to be passed within the week.
Romantic drama Queen and Slim also beat expectations, the Daniel Kaluuya and Jodie Turner-Smith led film opened in fifth with $11.7 million over the weekend and $15.8 million over the five-day holiday period. Costing $20 million, it will also be ruled a strong success.
Ford v Ferrari and A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhoo” were third and fourth respectively with the racing drama snagging $13 million for the three-day and $19 million for the five-day. The Mr. Rogers biopic snagged $11.8 million for the three-day and $17.2 million over the five-day box office race.
