The Fox network has handed out a pilot pickup to an untitled project from Danny Strong and David Elliot. Elliot (Four Brothers, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) will pen the script for what is described as a legal drama set at a wrongful conviction firm. Here’s Fox’s official description:

“Led by a fierce and fearless female lawyer with a hunger for justice, the team reopens investigations, putting their own lives in danger to exonerate the innocent that were ‘proven’ guilty. The lead’s motivation comes from her infamous past; as a young adult she was found guilty and later exonerated in a high-profile case in which she became a tabloid sensation, household name and national celebrity. While a hero and a victim to some, her bold and bullish tactics garner her some enemies — one of whom will do anything to see her go down for a crime we know she did not commit. The drama will see her defend others as she fights to maintain her own innocence.”

Elliot will executive produce alongside 20th Century Fox Television-based Strong and his Danny Strong Productions banner topper Stacy Greenberg.

This is Fox’s fourth drama pilot order of the season and joins Mixtape, the redeveloped The Passage and an untitled drama from outgoing Empire showrunner Ilene Chaiken and Melissa Scrivner Love. All told, all nine of Fox’s pilot pickups are produced at 20th Century Fox Television, with the studio slated to become a Disney property should Fox’s $52 billion sale clear regulatory hurdles. That would mean the network would not own any of this year’s comedies and dramas, should they go to series.
