Pierce Brosnan has taken on a rugged oil tycoon look for his latest venture as Eli McCullough in the upcoming AMC show “The Son.” In a first look image released today the former Bond actor is pictured with a hat in his left hand and a finger dangerously close to the trigger of a gun in his right.

Brosnan replaced Sam Neill, who was originally cast back in March 2016, in the central role of the patriarch of a wealthy Texas family. “The Son” is based on the novel of the same name by Philipp Meyer, who will serve as a writer and executive producer on the show. The drama follows the McCullough family’s rise and fall over multiple generations, concurrent with America’s birth as a superpower.

The show marks a return to the small screen for Brosnan, after his last big TV role back in the 1980’s on NBC’s “Remington Steele.” He is best known as the suave British secret agent James Bond, an iconic character he played for a series of movies from 1995 to 2002.

“The Son” hails from AMC Studios and Sonar Entertainment, and is executive produced by Meyer, Lee Shipman, Brian McGreevy and showrunner Kevin Murphy. Production will begin in Austin, Texas, in June. The 10-episode season is set to premiere sometime in 2017.
