Recording artist and former Disney Channel doyenne Debby Ryan has copped a choice role on NBC’s The Mysteries of Laura, as the titular MomCop’s half-sister — and Debra Messing has shared a first photo from the start of filming.
Ryan will guest-star in a two-parter (airing Feb. 24 and March 2) as Lucy (in the sky with?) Diamond, Laura’s troublemaking half-sister. (Betcha she treats life like it’s a party every day.) Despite a rocky relationship, Laura resolves to help Lucy when she’s the prime suspect in a murder case.
This is not Ryan’s first brush with the wrong side of the TV law, having previously gotten caught up in a murder in a 2012 episode of The Glades.
Messing shared the above backstage photo via WhoSay, with the caption: “YOU READY FOR LAURA’S HALF SISTER? No one is. She’s trouble! It’s @DebbyRyan ladies & gentleman! HERE WE GO!!!”
