The American Film Institute has set Aaron Sorkin’s directorial debut Molly’s Game as its closing night gala screening this coming Thursday.

The film replaces Ridley Scott’s All the Money in the World which was pulled from the line-up and is undergoing imminent reshoots to replace actor Kevin Spacey with Christopher Plummer ahead of its planned general release on December 22nd.

Sorkin is being honored with a tribute at the TCL Chinese Theatre event, with a moderated discussion of his work. Jessica Chastain and Idris Elba star in “Molly’s Game” which is set in the world of high-stakes underground poker games. Kevin Costner, Michael Cera, Jeremy Strong, Chris O’Dowd and Bill Camp co-star.

Jacqueline Lyanga, the AFI Fest Director says:

“Aaron Sorkin is an American master, and we are proud to shine a proper spotlight on his directorial debut, Molly’s Game, on AFI Fest’s Closing Night. As Sorkin embarks on this next chapter of his career, his talents are timely for a tribute as he brings his gift of crafting compelling narratives and complex characters to the story of female impresario Molly Bloom.”
