Kingston SSDNow Vplus200 Announced – Claims High Speed

Kingston finished the week by shipping one of its higher-performing solid-state drivs. The SSDNow V+200 uses the combination of a modern SandForce SF-2281 memory controller with the headroom of a SATA3 connection to peak at speeds equal to much of the best on the market. It can peak at read speeds of 535MB per second and writes at 480MB per second.

The 2.5-inch drives support self-encryption and can be sold either as a barebones drive, for notebook owners or those who already have what they need, or as an upgrade kit with cabling, brackets and framing to use it in a desktop, and cloning software to help backup and transfer files.

Kingston is promising a particularly wide spectrum of drives with capacities anywhere from 60GB to 480GB. Prices start off at $140 for the stand-alone 60GB drive to $970 for its 480GB equivalent. Opting for a bundle adds roughly $15 to the price.
