Sprint just announced that the HTC Evo Shift 4G will begin receiving an over-the-air update to Android 2.3 on Monday, June 20. The notification will be sent out in waves, or impatient users can manually download the update beginning today. When the installation process is started, the phone’s functionality will be temporarily disabled.
The update brings with it SWYPE text entry capabilities, along with improved download management in the Downloads application. The handset will also now also be capable of streaming media through applications that weren’t able to previously.
Manual download requires users to go to the Settings menu on their phone, select System updates and initiate the HTC software update
