X-Files and The Fall alum Gillian Anderson has joined the cast of Netflix’s The Crown for the fourth season. Anderson will play former conservative U.K. Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
The series ages up its cast every two years and both the third and fourth season are being shot back-to-back. Filming on the third season has wrapped with the fourth season now in production.
The third season will take place during 1964 and 1972 and is expected to cover major events in British history including Thatcher’s political rise and the introduction of Camilla Parker Bowles.
Olivia Colman, Tobias Menzies, Josh O’Connor, Emerald Fennell and Erin Doherty co-star.
The third season of The Crown starts streaming on November 17th. Most expect the fourth to kick off in late 2020.
